◆ The Placement Cell

The Placement Cell was formed in 1990 and it was named Credence in 2016 under the guidance of Prof. Poonam Singh. Credence comprises students who form the corporate interface of the Department, i.e., they act as a liaison between the corporate world and the student community. The primary responsibility of Credence is to facilitate the Summer Internship and Final Placement process held at the Department. Mentoring the students through mock aptitude tests, providing them with the Companies' recruitment criteria, managing the profile database of the students, and pushing for industry-student interactions through webinars and presentations are tasks that the Placement Cell is concerned with.

WHAT DOES THE CELL DO?

The placement cell serves as the linchpin for facilitating both summer internships and the final placement process within the department. This pivotal role involves inviting and onboarding companies, negotiating various aspects of the process to ensure its smooth execution. Additionally, the cell orchestrates a myriad of knowledge-sharing sessions, seminars, and webinars covering diverse topics ranging from HR insights to domain-specific knowledge and CV building techniques. To bolster students' skill sets, workshops on programming languages like R/Python, visualization tools such as Tableau/Power BI, and SQL are organized. Continuous assessment is ensured through weekly mock aptitude tests, with students' progress diligently monitored. Acting as the primary point of contact, the placement cell liaises between students, the Head of Department, professors, and company officials, resolving queries while adhering to institutional guidelines. Furthermore, the cell collaborates closely with alumni, fostering a strong sense of community and commitment through coordinated events, professional development workshops, and effective communication channels. Meticulous record-keeping of alumni engagement activities is maintained, and collaboration with Placement Coordinators ensures optimal resource utilization. Constant monitoring of trends and best practices in alumni relations allows for the implementation of innovative approaches to enhance engagement and participation. Lastly, seamless collaboration with the department is prioritized, providing essential information and support as needed.
